Healthy fantasy is also about escaping real problems and uncomfortable situations by diving into literature, TV and Internet.

For fantasies to be healthy one cannot flee the reality too long or extreme but eventually also solve the problems and handle the difficult situations that created the need to flee into fantasy.

The main difference of whether a fantasy is healthy or not is:

  • what the fantasy theme is about
  • to what extent one keeps living in the fantasy instead of only using it temporarily to handle difficult moments to buy time for considering possible solutions.
  • stimulating creativity but not be too unrealistic
